About BFAIG:
BFAIG‘s focus is on helping new and intermediate developers with problems and questions that arise in the course of their work and study. While we may occasionally host an expert presenter, for the most part meetings consist of learner presenters presenting to the group and obtaining input and solutions for the issues that they raise. For a fuller explanation of how BFAIG operates, please see our website.
Boston Flex Application Incubator Group meeting this Tuesday – Online & in Dedham, MA
September 13th, 2009
The Boston Flex Application Incubator Group – a subgroup of the Adobe Boston User Group – is being reactivated after being inactive for about a year.
The group will be meeting monthly on the third Tuesday of each month, from 5:45 – 7:15 PM. Meetings will have a combined online/in-person format, with the in-person aspect happening at the offices of Metatomix in Dedham. The next meeting will be this Tuesday.
BFAIG’s primary focus is on helping new and intermediate developers with problems and questions that arise in the course of their work and study. The group has a somewhat unusual format – rather than a “presenter dispensing knowledge and wisdom” we have “learner-presenters” who present a question or problem and get help from the other attendees.
Meeting details are at http://www.bfaig.org/blog/?p=83
BFAIG’s website at http://www.bfaig.org has a lot of details on how the group works.
BFAIG’s Yahoo Group mailing list is at http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/BFAIG/
I hope to see you there.

Excerpt: “Giorgio Natili will present on Intelligere SCS. Giorgio and Matteo Lanzi developed Intelligere in a mere two months. Given the fact that Intelligere duplicates much of Acrobat Connect’s funtionality, then adds a bit more, this is a fairly impressive demonstration of a) their programming abilities, and b) the Flex framework’s productivity. Giorgio will give a tour of the application, then give an overview of how he and Matteo integrated Flex, XML, Red5 and .NET to create Intelligere.”
Full announcement is here:

be quite interesting!
Michael Labriolla will be presenting on creating custom AS components during the first hour. Should be interesting!

Contest: A logo cries out for help!
March 5th, 2008
A few weeks ago I created a simple logo for the new Boston Flex Application Incubator Group. You can see it at our website. At the time I thought it was rather clever, and that it depicted an application hatching out of an egg. Since then I’ve been told by several people that it gives more of an impression that the egg is eating the application. Hmmm… Not good.
If you examine the logo another problem quickly becomes apparent, that being that I (rather obviously) am not a graphic designer.
Now I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “Gee Douglas, this looks like a serious problem. How can I help?”
Here’s how. I’m hereby instituting a BFAIG Logo Contest, and requesting submissions. All serious submissions will be displayed prominently at the top of the BFAIG home page for some period of time and will be credited with small text links. Eventually we’ll hold a vote amongst group members and select our official group logo. The winner will be announced through the same channels that this announcement is going out through, and will be credited with a small text link at the bottom of the BFAIG website.
Submissions can be sent to logo.contest at bfaig dot org. Ideally logo submissions should embody the ideas of “incubation” and/or “application(s)” and/or “group”.
We look forward to seeing what you can create!
Thanks,
Douglas
