First post – starting to learn – annotated tutorials
September 20th, 2006
Hi All,
This is my first post in what I’m hoping will be a long saga of learning and using Adobe Flex. I’ve been watching Flex for a while and thinking that perhaps I should learn it. With the advent of Flex 2 I’ve decided that it’s time to jump on board.
So far I’ve gotten through most of the Getting Started tutorials. I’ve decided to post the finished app for each tutorial, its source code, and (in most cases) my annotations, online. This will serve several purposes:
- It will serve as a reference for myself. A quick scan of the comments that I’ve added to each tutorial’s code will quickly refresh my memory on what I’ve learned.
- Perhaps you, dear reader, may find them interesting or useful as well.
- Perhaps most importantly, by posting these publicly, I hope to force myself to a higher level of understanding, so as to minimize the humiliation of being repeatedly corrected.
I’ve decided to post the examples to my website rather than on this blog. If you’re curious, simply follow the link under Annotated Tutorials on the left. I’m posting to the website because it allows me to organize my content in ways that the blog format doesn’t allow, or at least doesn’t make easy. The down-side of this arrangement is that I know of no simple mechanism for enabling comments on my web pages. I plan to post here about some or all of the tutorials as I complete them, link to the page I’ve posted, and request your feedback here.
So far I’ve posted 9 of the Getting Started tutorials. Please leave any feedback as comments to this post. Thanks!
