Selected Projects

Earth Science Website

The Client

The Center For Earth And Space Science Education (CESSE) at TERC.

The Project

In this project we helped CESSE develop the Exploring Earth Website which supplements a McDougal Littel earth science high school textbook.

The website contains a mix of standard HTML, Flash and Shockwave. Our role was to develop a functional framework that allowed less advanced programmers to quickly create multiple Shockwave movies with interactive content.

The functionality that we developed included onscreen drawing, a distance measurement tool, dragging and dropping, graphing, etc. We created a framework that allowed less skilled Director programmers to create interactive modules without further Lingo programming. Instead, the programmers assembled modules using our framework, Director’s graphic user interface and an XML configuration file.

The project had an extremely short timeframe. We consulted with CESSE, developed the technical spec and finished the bulk of the programming in under three months.

Credits

Note: We created the programming infrastructure for these interactive modules. All credit for the excellent graphic and web design that are found on the website belongs to others. Full credits can be found at the bottom of this page.

Selected Examples

Note: These simulations require the Shockwave Player. You can install it here.
